A Psalm of Presence and Praise By: Kurt Barnes
For the last several years, I’ve begun my mornings with the book of Psalms, finding solace and inspiration in its verses. Recently, I have started writing my own psalms as a personal act of worship. Though I’ve never shared them before, today I feel led to share one with you.
Lord, You guide me through the darkest days,
Walking with me through shadowed haze.
When everything feels like it’s closing in,
You ground my feet and strengthen within.
Even in the valley, You grow my roots deep,
Nourished by promises that You always keep.
You’ve never left, You’ve shown me grace,
With Your Spirit’s presence in every space.
Holy Spirit, comforter, always by my side,
Quieting my fears, calming the tide.
Your whispers give me peace and light,
Leading me gently through the night.
As morning breaks and hope rings true,
I lift my praise, my song to You.
From the depths of despair to heights of grace,
I see Your love, I feel Your embrace.
You reign above, my King, my Friend,
Surrounded by saints, praise without end.
Heaven echoes with their song,
Reminding me where I belong.
The crowd of witnesses sings Your fame,
The world rejoices in Your name.
I join their chorus, my voice I raise,
Singing Your glory all my days.
No matter what life brings my way,
You are my strength, my hope, my stay.
In joy or pain, in light or night,
I’ll praise You, Lord, with all my might.
